First off I just want to say that this paper was very challenging for me to write. I've grown up all my life in a Baptist church and haven't had any Calvary Chapel experiences or prior knowledge. Calvary Chapel preaches that the redemption of man cannot be earned by good works or bought with earthly wealth. The only way to be redeemed is through the blood of Jesus Christ. Belief in Him is essential for entrance into the Kingdom. This again, is a key belief that all Christians must accept and must believe to be called Christians. Episcopal, Baptist, Calvary Chapel, Purpose Driven…these are all different methods within the general canopy of Christianity and they all believe that atonement for our sins is only paid through the death and resurrection of Christ our Lord.

Reuven Malter goes through a series of character changes that reflect his coming of age throughout the novel.
