In a quiet neighborhood two young children grew up with each other living next to one another. Jazz, 1 and Rakim 18, had lived next to each other since they were born. Jazz lived by herself as she was brought up by foster parents till the age of 17, they then moved away but Jazz wanted to stay. She did not know who her real parents were as she was put in an orphanage at the age of two. Rakim her best friend had his father pass away when he was 16. Rakim had a heart condition that he thought was not serious enough for a doctor, up until he was 18 he was told by a doctor that he had less than a year left in his life.

The two spent their lives going to the same schools having the same friends doing practically the same things. Jazz and Rakim, Ray as Jazz called him knew everything about each other and were like brother and sister. Rakim's family helped Jazz grow up, as her foster parents did not care about her like Rakim's family did.

"Ring, ring.' The phone went off giving Jazz a tremendous fright, as she was still asleep, she leapt out of bed and reached for the phone. Her voice still croaky she just managed to get a groan out when, abruptly she awoke to the voice of her best friends' mother sobbing on the other line. Jazz had been expecting a call like this for some time, yet she was still unable to grasp the situation entirely.

"Jazz, dear I think you should get down to the hospital…Rakim has taken a turn for the worst. He's been asking for you." Jazz paused for a moment squinting at the clock to read the time. It read 554am. "Sure no problem" she replied in a croaky morning voice "I'll be there in twenty minutes".

Quickly she got dressed, left the house and headed to the car when she realized she had left her keys in the front door. Finally getting herself together she headed for the hospital half asleep and fearful. As she drove she reminised of a time when all was good with her and Rakim, the person she trusted and loved like a brother. Rakim was the one she could turn to; he was her backbone and she his.

Rakim had been sick yet he refused to see a doctor. His future fell from one night, which clearly showed how serious his illness had become. Jazz remembered how upset she had been that night. As per usual Rakim had come through for her and he promised her he'd make her smile again…. "Jazz you can't cry all your life, I know he hurt you and I've been there before. Tonight we'll have a good time and show him your life will go on without him". "But Rakim you don't understand… I loved him and now I lost him." She said reaching for another tissue. "No babe, his mistake, his loss. You did nothing wrong but fall for the wrong guy. Besides you're privileged, you're with the man all the ladies want", he replied sarcastically.

Jazz chuckled quietly to herself remembering how Rakim always had a way with words making her laugh…BEEP, BEEP! Jazz slammed the breaks nearly clipping an on coming car whilst car horns sounded. Gaining control of the car she uncontrollably drifted back to the memories so clear in her mind.

"Rakim I'm really not up for this". He replied " Oh don't be silly. We'll dance and drink all night, my shout" Rakim said with a cheeky laugh. As the night went on she became tired. Although she'd had fun she just had no energy. She went to find Rakim. "Hey cutie! How's about a dance?" A tall man asked grabbing a hold of her arm. "No thank you, I was just leaving". Hurrying her way out in a panic when she was stopped again. "Come on babe, your man isn't around", he jerked forward pulling her towards him. She struggled when she was let free and saw him sprawled across the dance floor.

Jazz turned to see Rakim with four other tall, dark, well built guys. Rakim reached for her putting an arm around her. "Are you okay Jazz? This was a bad idea. I'm sorry". He took her hand escorting her to the club exit. She stopped and turned to him gently saying, "No Ray, this was a great idea. Thank you".

Tears streamed down her cheeks as she approached a set of stoplights. Pulling down the sleeve of her shirt, she wiped away the tears. Amongst the sobs a smile found it's way across her face, as she'd known since they were young they'd be like family forever. "Jazz do you want to sit at the beach? It's a nice night and the evening is young". Rakim brushed her hair away from her face. "Yeah, that sounds nice". She just wanted to sit and relax.

They spoke for hours Sharing secrets, thoughts and feelings. Jazz, I know sometimes it seems as though I'm not around, but you know I'll love you forever. You are like my baby girl". He told her in a reassuring voice, she then said, "I know. We've been friends forever and I love you too, just promise you'll be there forever."

"Always baby girl. "Friends forever". "Forever" she replied. They gazed at the stars that would be cherished for eternity. It began to get late so Rakim took Jazz home. She found a note from her roommate which read 'Gone for the night be back tomorrow. 'Love C.J'. Rakim, Would you stay tonight? The guest room is made up already".

"Okay, if that's what you want" Jazz hit his arm, joking with him. They sat up talking over a hot cup of chocolate. "Tonight was great, but I'm off to bed…. Ray you're the best friend I have ever had. Good night". He laughed and replied "you're only friend, sweet dreams". Jazz launched pillow at him as they laughed.

Jazz remembered hearing a thud that awoke her. Rakim had headaches that night which got worse, he had collapsed. After numerous appointments to a number of doctors it was clear that a tumor had grown. She walked through the corridors of the hospital when Rakim's mother, who led her to his room, approached her. Jazz gently pushed open the door taking a deep breath.

She felt awkward. As she entered she tried to fight back her tears, losing that battle after seeing him in such a state. "Be strong baby girl, there is no need for tears … you know there isn't much time". "Maybe not but we'll be together forever". She paused for a moment I need you Ray!"

"I'll never leave you. Whenever you need someone just look up at the stars and I'll be there. Here take this". He handed her a medallion, inscribed on it wrote 'Forever Friends'. She held tightly to his hand and the medallion saying the last words she had kept a secret all her life. "Ray I'm going to tell you the reason that we are so close and why we love each other so much, two years ago I found out we have been brother and sister since the day you were born, after your father died your mother came and told me." "Jazz I knew all along, my father had left a note along with his personal items for me saying that I must take care of you, love you and be with you all my life as you are my sister, I love you Jazz." Ray said in a last breath as his eyes closed and body laid still.

Jazz couldn't help but be hurt for many reasons. She smiled giving him a gentle kiss on his forehead whispering, "Go in peace". At that moment she knew he was gone. His heart monitor sounded the pain she felt became so intense she let out a cry.

She placed an arm around his waist and rested her head on his chest as she wept. She stared out the window; the clouds allowed a small ray of light to shine through. The image put a smile on her face. With a sigh a tear rolled down her face, he was gone but free of his pain. He could now rest. Softly she said "Good Bye".

Mr. and Mrs. Bennet are intent on having their five daughters marry above their middle-class station. A rich, single man, Charles Bingley rents an estate, Netherfield, nearby. Mrs. Bennet pushes her husband to immediately introduce himself and form an acquaintance. He obliges reluctantly. At a ball, all the Bennets are introduced to the Bingley party. Everyone likes the courteous Mr. Bingley, but his close friend, Fitzwilliam Darcy, is thought to be too arrogant and filled with unconcealed pride and vanity. He won't dance with anyone outside of his own group or deign to speak with them. He states, within Elizabeth Bennet's hearing, that "she is tolerable, but not handsome enough to tempt me."

Mr. Bingley's affection for Jane develops quickly, to the concern of his sisters and Mr. Darcy. They can't tolerate her lower status, and are embarrassed by her family's manners and actions. Mr. Darcy, in spite of his better wisdom, becomes infatuated with Elizabeth. He is drawn to her uncensored wit and fine eyes. Miss Bingley's jealous criticisms of her do nothing to lessen his admiration. Miss Bingley has made plans to entrap him for herself, but they seem blocked.

Caroline Bingley invites Jane to Netherfield. While she is en route, in the rain, Jane catches a severe cold. She is forced to stay at the estate and be treated by a local apothecary. Mrs. Bennet is delighted, because this puts Jane in proximity with Mr. Bingley and his wealth. Jane becomes more ill, and her sister Elizabeth goes to Netherfield to nurse her. The concern for her sister and strength of character appeal to Mr. Darcy, but he is afraid of his infatuation with someone who is economically inferior. The Bennet sisters' departure after six days relieves nearly everyone.

Mr. Bennet's estate, Longbourn, is entailed (by law bequeathed) to Mr. Collins, a clergyman and cousin. This is because he has no son; thus, his property will go after his death to Collins as the nearest male relative. Mr. Bennet receives an inane letter from Collins, apologizing for the entail, and hinting at the possibility of marriage with one of the Bennet daughters. He arranges for a fortnight stay at Longbourn, where his officious stupidity delights Mr. Bennet's keen satiric sense, repels Elizabeth, and endears him to the vacuous Mrs. Bennet.

Mr. Bennet can't wait for him to depart and soon tires of his praise of his patron, Lady Catherine de Bourgh. He sends his cousin on an errand to Meryton with his daughters. There, they meet George Wickham, a handsome and personable military officer. Elizabeth is intrigued when Wickham and Darcy, who obviously know each other, meet on the street and both seem uncomfortable. At a ball, soon after, Wickham tells his life story to Elizabeth. He states that Darcy disobeyed his own father's will out of resentment. (Wickham was a ward of Darcy's father and had been promised revenue for a clergyman's position.) Wickham's story makes Darcy look cruel and self-indulgent. Elizabeth buys this account, because she has pre-determined, negative views of Mr. Darcy's arrogance and pride.

Elizabeth becomes infatuated with the charming Wickham, as do her younger sisters. She resents his absence from the ball thrown by Mr. Bingley at Netherfield. She attributes his lack of attendance to a dispute between Wickham and Darcy, because Wickham has persuaded her of Darcy's bad character. She annoys Darcy by bringing up the subject, and is puzzled by his persistence in approaching her, as she does not know of his attraction. Elizabeth is mortified by her family's behavior that evening. Mrs. Bennet loudly proclaims the merits of a match between Jane and Mr. Bingley. Mary, her sister, bores everyone with her mediocre piano playing. Mr. Collins, her cousin, gracelessly proposes marriage, and she is further embarrassed. He wants a marriage of convenience, and she wants no part of it. She tries to convince him that her refusal is earnest. The support of her father makes Collins see the truth.

Does the name Jesus Christ mean anything to you? To some people Jesus was a wise man that lived ,000 years ago. Others believe that He was the only Son of God. I am going to inform you on who Jesus was, what Jesus claimed to be, and give you other information about Jesus outside of the Bible.

Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem during the reign of King Herod. Mary and Joseph, Jesus mother and father, were engaged to be married and Mary became pregnant. But, Joseph and Mary had not had premarital sex. Joseph was confused and had in mind to divorce Mary, but an angel appeared to him in a dream that it was alright to go along with his marriage to Mary because she had become pregnant by the Holy Spirit. When Jesus was born and aged, He did many miracles and healed many people in his time on earth. Many people believe that Jesus was the Son of God. When he was in his late 0s/early 0s, He developed a ministry in the town of Capernaum. Jesus then chose 1 men to be his followers. They were called his disciples. Jesus told them everything about what was going on and what was about to happen by warning them of his death early in advance. On Jesus last week, Jesus was betrayed by one of his disciples named Judas Iscariot. Judas told the leaders of the time, who didnt like Jesus impact on everyone, that he would tell him where he was so they could go and arrest him for 0 pieces of silver. Judas later hung himself because he could not stand the guilt. The leaders arrested Jesus and took him to Pilate who found no guilt in him. It was Jewish custom for

the passover to release one prisoner and Pilate asked if the people wanted him to release Jesus and they said No, not him so Pilate released another prisoner and had Jesus flogged and mocked and beaten but He could find no base of charge on Him. So Pilate brought Jesus back out to the people and asked what He should do with Jesus and the crowd shouted Crucify Him! Crucify Him! So Pilate washed hands of Jesus blood and ordered him to be crucified. Carrying his own cross, Jesus went to Golgotha where he was crucified. Over the cross was written Jesus of Nazareth, The King Of The Jews. Jesus was nailed to the cross through his hands and feet. When Jesus had died they put him in a tomb and placed a rock over the doorway. Rumor went around to Pilate that Jesus claimed that He would rise again on the third day after his death. So Pilate put guards at the tomb to make sure nothing happened to Jesus body. In three days, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been moved from the door and that Jesus was not there. An angel appeared and told her that Jesus was not there that he had risen. Jesus then appeared to hundreds of people in the next forty days and then he ascended into heaven.Order Custom Proof Of Jesus paper

Jesus had claimed to be the Son of God, that was sent from heaven to die on the cross to forgive all of humanity of their sins. As far-fetched as that may seem, many people all around the world have turned to Jesus and asked him to be in control of their lives. But others choose to reject him and think that if Jesus did exist, He was only a good man. Others believe that Jesus never did live, that He is just something christians made up. I do not believe that to be true. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God that was sent from heaven to die for my sins and that I should turn to Him and let Him be in control of my life. One reason I believe that Jesus really did exist is that if the Gospels

were written in before 70 A.D., there were still plenty of people around to know if the authors were lying about Jesus. Paul Little put it this way

Imagine that someone today wrote a biography of the late President Richard Nixon, and in it said He claimed to be God, to have forgiven peoples sins, and to have risen from the dead. Such a story would never get off the ground because there are still too many people around who knew Nixon. The same would be true for the Gospel writers. If they had written lies, they would have been exposed as frauds.

Another thing was, do you know what happened to the disciples after Jesus death? They panicked and gave up on everything and were about to go on with their regular lives before they had met Jesus. But something happened, something that would make them be bold and fearless. Jesus appeared to them after He rose from the dead. That transformed the disciples in a way no other thing possibly could. They knew the truth and wanted others to know also. They would continue to do so until they died or they were martyred. So, if Jesus didnt really rise from the dead, and all the disciples lied and said that they had seen Jesus and really didnt, the disciples wasted their lives and died for a lie. But another factor comes into play, In one of Pauls letters, the bible said that He appeared to 500 people at once. One of the theories for this, is that Jesus was a hypnonosis expert. Or that they were all hallucinating. If this were true it still doesnt add up. Lee Strobel writes in his book, The Case for Christ, that Only one person can see a hallucination, a group of people, 10, 1, or 500 of them would not have seen the same hallucination at the same time.

That might still not be enough for you to make your decision though, there is also evidence for Jesus outside of the Bible. Both Josephus, the historian, and Lucain indicate

4

in their writings that Jesus was regarded as being wise. Josephus also writes of him being the Messiah. Pliny the Younger, The Talmud, and Lucian, imply that Jesus was a powerful teacher. Both Josephus and The Talmud say that Jesus performed miraculous feats. All of them, Josephus, The Talmud, Lucian and Pliny, all mention that Jesus was crucified. People of the Islamic faith are taught that Jesus was a prophet of Allah, like Mohammed. The Hindus believe that Jesus...had reached the highest level of God-consciousness. One of the Catholic Popes John Paul II stated that

Christ is absolutedly original and absolutely unique. If He were only a wise man like Socrates, if He were a prophet like Mohammed, if He were enlightened like the Buddha, without a doubt. He would not be what He is.

Recently found evidence in Israel gives new proof of Jesus existence. An ossuary, a box of bones, was discovered with James, Son of Joseph, Brother of Jesus inscribed on the box in the native language Aramaic. The ossuary was discovered just short of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, the same mount that is believed to be where Jesus last appeared to His disciples and then ascended into heaven. Some scholars do not accept this new find as proof that Jesus exists. They claim that James, Joseph, and Jesus were very common names back then and that the ossuary could be referring to anyone, not neccesarily Jesus Christ. Still others believe that this is without a doubt the ossuary of James the Just as He was known. There is really no way to tell whos bones were in the ossuary. The ossuary was also recently damaged in route to Canada where the owners of the ossuary will put it on display in a musuem.

I have given you information on who Jesus was, Who and what Jesus claimed to be, and other proof of Jesus outside of the Bible. I hope that now you can make up your mind about Jesus. C.S. Lewis once stated that Jesus was either a liar, a lunatic or Lord. The decision is up to you.

Introduction

Plants when grow in areas of bad conditions such as waterlogged soils must be able to deal with environmental extremes not experienced by other plants. Mangroves live in the swamp, bathed twice a day by the sea and having their roots in waterlogged soils which are devoid of oxygen, poorly drained, rich in organic matter and anoxic. Because of the lack of oxygen in the soils, mangroves rely on numerous erect aerial roots called pneumetaphores, the mangrove¡¦s breathing roots, to obtain oxygen from the air by means of aerial roots that descend like buttresses from the trunk and lower branches for its extensive root system. The pneumetaphores have corky, water-resistant bark and a spongy interior stiffened by an axis of vascular tissue. Oxygen once taken up will be diffused through aeration tissue in the lateral roots and spread to the rest of the plant.

The height of pneumetaphores varies from one to another, is it related to the height of seawater level or it just happens to be like that? Is there any special strategy for pneumetaphores to get as more oxygen as the water level gets higher? Do they grow higher as they grow closer to the channel where the water level is the highest? If they are, why is it so?

AimOrder custom research paper on The adaptation of pneumetaphores of mangroves to the waterlogged soils environment.

To find out if the height of pneumetaphores if related to the height of the water mark on the trees.

Hypothesis

The pneumetaphores grow higher as the height of the watermark increases.

Equipment

A 10m long stick, a meter ruler.

Methods

1. Imagine a transect line across the creek from the bank to the channel.

. Use the 10m stick to set out ten 10m ( radius 1.75m) quadrats from the bank to the channel along the transect line. Each quadrats is equally spaced in between.

. At each quadrat, use the meter ruler to measure

a) The height of watermark on the trees.

b) The height of 10 random chosen pneumetaphores.

4. Use the t test to test the null hypothesis.

Where XA = mean of the sample A( 10 heights of pneumetaphores in the first quadrat closest to the bank), XB = mean of the sample B ( another 10 heights of pneumetaphores in the last quadrats closest to the channel),

SA = sum of ( XA-XA) / n-1, SB = sum of ( XB-XB )/ n-1 , n= number in each sample. To use the formula n must be the same for sample 1 and .

Variables

Controlled --- Each quadrat need to be evenly spreaded out, and in each quadrat measure exactly 10 heights of pneumetaphores.

Changed --- Set the height of watermark as independent variables.

--- Set the height of pneumetaphores as dependent variables.

The calculated value of .64 is greater than the critical value of .10 at 0.01 level of significance.

Therefore the null hypothesis is rejected.

So any difference is not just due to chance, there are some facts that determine the distribution of different height of pneumetaphores.

Conclusion

The null hypothesis is rejected. The pneumetaphores grow higher as the height of the watermark increases.

Discussion

The result shows the trend that pneumetaphores grow higher as they get closer to the channel, where the watermark on the trees is the highest. As talked in the introduction, pneumetophores are used to obtain oxygen from the air by mangroves, as water level gets higher towards channel, the surface of pneumetaphores exposure in the air will reduce more and more if they remained the same height and eventually covered totally by the seawater. Thus, to adapt the bad living environment and to survive, the pneumetophores must grow higher as the water level rises, in order to get as much oxygen.

However although the line of trend of the distribution of pneumetaphores basically goes upwards, the specific number didn¡¦t show the exactly accurate trend as in quadrat 5 and 8, the average height of 10 pneumetaphores are both lower than the previous quadrats which have lower watermark. This may be because of insufficiency of samples, that is, only 10 pneumetaphores in each quadrat are not enough, number of samples should be as more as possible. Another reason for the inaccuracy could be the range of area that samples collected is not large enough. More transect lines should be set across the creek. Samples should be collected more and in a large range of area, so the height of pneumetaphores will vary even more in each quadrat and being more accurate. Further more, the way of measuring pneumetaphores may not be as accurate. As we put the ruler down to the mud, it¡¦s always hard to say how deep to the mud should the ruler be put exactly. Therefore the height measured might not be what it really is.

Other than those controllable errors, some causes might affect the result as well, which is hardly avoidable. When we measure the height of the watermark on the trees, a certain amount of watermark might have evaporated in the air already because of the strong sunlight. Thus not 100 % accurate the level of watermark is measured.

Calcium Citrate vs. Calcium Carbonate

Q In an earlier column you advised taking Tums for calcium, as Ive heard other MDs advise. Because Ive read several reports on the greater value of calcium citrate, I take a calcium magnesium supplement with calcium citrate. Since its clear we need magnesium with our calcium, and Tums has no magnesium and the lesser form of calcium, is Tums really the product of choice? Its cheap but thats it. Any comments?

A As I wrote in that column, calcium citrate is better absorbed than calcium carbonate but much more expensive. In the article you sent me from the November, 1 issue of The Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Howard J. Heller, MD and his colleagues compared the calcium absorption of Citracal (a calcium citrate formulation) and Os-Cal (a calcium carbonate one) after a single oral dose (500 mg calcium), taken with a meal. By measuring blood levels of calcium, they demonstrated that calcium citrate is .5 times more bioavailable (easier for your body to use) than calcium carbonate.

Cost is certainly not the most important factor in choosing a calcium supplement, but if a person doesnt have side effects from calcium carbonate, why not take the cheaper one? For some people on a fixed income, an extra $0-0 a month makes a difference. You can buy calcium carbonate combined with Vitamin D and magnesium in pill form too. It doesnt have to be chewable Tums. By European standards the British spend higher than average amounts on both savory snacks (principally crisps) and breakfast cereals.Snack foods are a central part of most weekly shopping trips for most consumers, although bagged snacks are a relatively new development.

The potato crisps particularly had played a significant role regarding the English eating habits since 150s they have been a part of their lifestyle and English tradition.Nowadays potato crisps are the most frequently eaten and the great success of that particular product was a result of the intensified advertising and general marketing campaigns that accompanied new entry competition during the early years of the 160s.That event affected Smiths potato crisps limited, whoch was the first dominant firm in the production of potato crisps, but with the entry of new similar firms, from one dominated became a single firm and a large competition and changes had started into the market.

According to the entry of the imperial tobacco company, which was the main threat, by the acquisition of the Golden Wonder crisp company limited in 160,packaging, production, advertising, and distribution of crisps started tom change in order to build reputation advantages to ensure customer loyalty

A big difference in the field of crisp industry, between 150s and 160s,was that the creator concidered the high standard of quality with respect to the copnsumers, while modern markets require a great and stable quality and enormous quantities of production. In the earrly 150s there was a new entry of equipment in crisp industry,in order to preserved the control of quality, more efficient and profitable, called continious-frying cookers which replaced batch-friers. The animals compared to people from the Russian revolution.

By Julian Sym

Most of the characters in animal farm have counterparts from the Russian revolution, or are related to different parts of the revolution in some way. Since the book was based on the Russian Revolution, the main animal characters and people in the story represent individuals, or different groups of Russian citizens. The book starts out very much like the actual Russian revolution; with hopes for a new empire where all are equal, and the unfair, unjust leader is thrown out. This is related to when Mr. Jones is overpowered by the starving animals (as written on page 1). Then it goes into where different individuals begin to take more power than they should. Gradually the "rulers" have taken over the "kingdom" and the farm is back to functioning as it was under Mr. Jones. I will compare the characters form Animal Farm to the Russian revolution from 'top' of the social class to the "bottom."

At the top of the ladder were the pigs. Each pig represented someone different in the revolution. Old Major the prize-winning boar was the inspirational leader of the farm animals. Old Major inspired the animals to revolt against Mr. Jones and humans by telling them of his dream of a perfect world which he called "Animalism". Old Major's speech carries on through the first eight pages. Old Major was like Karl Marx. Karl Marx was like Old Major because he dreamed up a wonderful new form of government by and for the people where everyone was equal. It was as a result of this vision for a better world, and Karl Marx's convincing ways that the Czar and his family were killed. Unfortunately his dream would never work out as planned, neither did Old Major's dream.

Help with essay on Animal Farm: The animals compared to people from The Russian revolution.

The second is Snowball. Snowball believed one hundred percent in Old Majors hopes and dreams. He wanted all the things Old Major wanted, such as the freedom of the animals. This is shown when he leads the animals in the battle of Cowshed with his daring heroics, here is a passage from page 7."The pellets scored bloody streaks along snowballs back, and a sheep dropped dead. Without halting for an instant Snowball flung his fifteenth stone against Jones's leg" He wanted so much to continue what Old Major had started that he was willing to sacrifice his life. In the Russian Revolution his counterpart would be Trotsky. Trotsky believed and wanted the same things as Karl Marx and tried to share the ideas of Marx but unfortunately Karl Marx grew less powerful and Trotsky was forced to leave the country, so too was Snowball forced to leave the farm.

Another example is Napoleon. Napoleon was selfish and greedy. He did not want to share the power or the decision making with any other animal. This was the same for Stalin. At first Napoleon and Snowball shared the decision making and had debates about what course of action they would take. This worked for a while. Then Napoleon grew tired of long debates, and he thought he could make the decision by himself. He then forced Snowball out of the farm and started to spread lies about Snowball to get the entire farm against him. Stalin did the same thing against Trotsky and forced Trotsky into hiding in Mexico, where he was eventually assassinated. Both Stalin and Napoleon ruined any hopes of a Utopian society and instead set up dictatorships.

Then comes the final important pig, Squealer. Squealer is an interesting character because he was very manipulative and persuasive with his use of propaganda, Orwell said, "He could turn black into white". Squealer throughout the book was the animal that everyone would turn to for help and in the animals eyes they had no reason to believed what he said was false. Squealer was able to get away with anything because when he talked he looked so believable and he sounded so believable. For example page " do you know what would happen if we pigs failed in our duty? Jones would come back! Yes, Jones would come back1 Surely, comrades,' cried squealer almost pleadingly, skipping from side to side and whisking his tail, 'surely there is no one among you who wants to see Jones come back". Squealer could be compared to the Russian newspapers, TV's and radios. The use of propaganda in everyday life back then was very high because they wanted people to hate the English.

Other animals were the worker class type citizens. The types of citizens range from hard working to selfish and lazy. Molly, for instance, only cared about her ribbons, and wasn't much of a thinker. All she wanted to do was eat sugar, and look pretty. Molly is compared to the rich and important citizens who wanted to keep their rich and luxurious life so they fled the country.

Benjamin was a critic who always said things like, "I've seen that before" and "It'll never work." But he still did his work the same way, never becoming too excited or too disappointed about anything that has passed. He doesn't seem to care about anything, the only time he shows any emotion is when boxer is carried away in the glue truck.

Although it doesn't show from the start, through the book you realize that Benjamin always knows everything about what's going on around him but he never seems to be surprised. Benjamin can be compared to those who critised the idea of a utopian world and knew that nothing was going to improve.

The cat was just plain lazy, and was always disappearing whenever work had to be done. The ducks were weak and did not get much done. Then there were donkeys's, which worked much harder and never thought of their own needs. The pigeons acted as message carriers spreading propaganda between farms, spreading Napoleon's words from farm to farm, or in the actual Russian Revolution, country to country. Although all these animals are very different, they all shared one common trait. They were all weak. They all let Napoleon take over without much resistance. Just like Stalin took over Russia. These animals were too weak, too scared, or just lacked the intelligence required to do something about it. This is where it is the fault of the animals. They should have stood up to Napoleon for what they fought for in the first place. The people must stand up to those who would destroy the system or else all is lost.

Through this essay you can see that Orwell deliberately made the characters similar to different people in the Russian revolution. Orwell made the characters less confusing by making all leaders the pigs (and I'm sure he had a reason for that too) and all the other animals the different forms of the working class. The book demonstrated how easily people will just go along with change without realizing, and how the use of propaganda can change people's beliefs for better or for worse. It also shows that if you don't believe in what is happening you should stand up for your beliefs.

If you don't you're going to end up getting pushed around. All around I think that the book was very accurate to what happened in the Russian revolution.

Life is full of great expectations and bitter disappointments as seen in Nathaniel Hawthorne's

Apprentice ship story ''My Kinsman, Major Molineax'' the author relates the growth of a young man

to the birth of an sovereign nation. Through descriptive imagery of Robin and his surroundings, the obstacle filled search for his kinsman and a final harsh realization of the experience. Hawthorne makes his epiphany well known to both Robin and his readers.Cheap custom writing service can write essays on a relative search

Hawthorne begins his literal journey with his description of Robin and Robin's visual environment. The passage commences in a night journey with Robin, the young protagonist who is describe as a country lad who appeared to be a virgin of town life. The boy seemed to have been well taken care of before the undertaking of his expedition as ''He was clad in a coarse grey coat, well worn but in excellent repair''. His knitted stocking by a mother or a sister was made with care. His hat was given to him from his father. This gives the reader the impression that Robin has just left home for the first time. The journey seems to have appeal to Robin enters the town with ''as light a step'' and with a ''eager eye''. These positive characteristics are here too show the reader of Robins youthful temperament which is a cause of the naivety that he possesses, his youthful side is shown again when he enter the town and ''scrutinizes'' the ''small and mean'' Shacks in the town, could not house his kinsman and no house he sees is worthy of this great man he is searching for. Robin's feeling that this place is not fit for his kinsman is only fuelled from his great expectation of the journey he is about to under take. The night journey is used literally and symbolically. Symbolically it means, the passage of the unknown and unexpected and his inability to see the whole picture.

Robin's goal is to go to his kinsman and he believes that will lead him through life. His journey only gets more difficult with each obstacle so he must hurdle to reach his mark. Robin's obstacles occur in the form of the town's people and each life lesson that follows. Robin perceives the town's people as low class fools, who cannot grasp the concept of how important he is because of whom his kinsman is. Robin's first encounter with an older man is described as having a ''full periwig of hair'' wide skirted coat of dark cloth and ''silk stocking pulled up to his knees''. This man was probably a town official of a member of the clergy. When Robin asked the where about or his kinsman the tone of the old man was very angry. The reader can feel the ''annoyance'' and excessive anger'' come off the page ''like a though of cold grave obtruding among wrathful passions''(pg. 6), the older man said, he knows no such person. Robin who is unaware of the situation thinks he know why he had such a response. ''The old man lack the breeding to answer a stranger civilly'', Robin continues as he swaggers through the town like a ''British hero''. He then enters a local pub. It was described as a place of good cheer and boisterous laughter. Robin was welcomed and met with curiosity from the locals in the pub. He is offered food, but turns it downs due to lack of money, but then inquires on the whereabouts of his kinsman. Robin is met with the same sort of hostilely that he received with the older gentleman. He thought that this was because of his lack of money that brought him to this. Robin's blindness and naivety ate becoming to hold him down. He only sees the towns people as nuisances. He is becoming unsure of himself and the journey. ''The result of his former inquires made unwilling to hazard another''(pg ). Robin soon has huge cense of displacement, when he crosses paths with a group of young men dressed in ''embroidered garment'' of ''showy colours gold laced hats'' who were dancing and humming a tune. This is not an obstacle like the others but one that brings Robin a little uneasiness about his belonging. Robin soon encounters a experience that most young men must go through sexual thought Robin learnt something new about himself. Hawthorne uses great sexual descriptive imagery. Robin enters a household and inquires about ''dwelling of his kinsman''(pg. 0) and a woman greets him at the door him. She was a ''dainty little figure'', ''white neck'' ''round arms'' and a ''slander waist''. This entire passage has Robin lose a firm hold on who he thought he was and he knows not what to do, his thought of himself being a ''shrewd youth'' he resists temptation and leavers, His journey as Robin feels like a curse has been laid upon him feeling like he is lost and now he is not sure of himself. Robin finds himself at church and meets an ill-tempered fellow, a man that tells Robin to wait for his kinsman. The story begins to have ambiguity. The man face, half red half black as if there were ''two individual devils'' (pg. ). Then Robin's ''am I here or there''. The obstacle filled search does not make sense to Robin at this juncture, but the people Robin has encountered are put in the story as teachers to educate him about naivety, his easy expectations and to open his eyes to the truth. The church symbolizes the ultimate sanctuary where could lose himself in hid thoughts a place of peace and rest. The ray of light peering down is a symbol of hope maybe a guide to the truth.

The waiting for his kinsman, the friendly stranger who is there as a guide to the mystery of Robin's kinsman. The answers to the noises of the town and Robins only worry is will the noise disturb his sleep. This is another instance were his naivety is really obvious to the reader. Robin soon wants to join in on the merry-making, but his companion reminds him that his kinsman will soon pass. The riot came out upon the street and poured towards the church were Robin stood waiting. His search came to an end, he found his kinsman tarred and feathered. Robin saw an older gentleman whose ''face as pail as death'' (pg. 8) ''foam hung from his quivering lip''(pg. 8). Molineux's body was agitated but his pride fought to conceal it.

Instantly an epiphany- Robin's excitement ran through his mind about the night the crowd the spectacle of his kinsman. ''A perception of tremendous ridicule on the whole scene affects him with a sort of mental inebriety''. Robin soon notices all the citizens he met on his journey. The old man, the innkeeper, the pretty mistress, and all the people who made sport of him during his journey. Robin's face was pale ''his eyes not quite as lively as in the earlier part of the evening''(pg. 40). Devastated, as anyone would be of he harsh realization. but a learning experience. He now knows the truth. The experience has opened his eyes and he is no longer blind to the world. Maybe Robin on a figurative sense Robin is dead and needs to be reborn. He wants to leave and run away from his problems, perhaps return home. His friend asks him to stay and reassures him that ''you may rise in the world without the help of your kinsman. Major Molineux''(pg40)

On a primary level ''My Kinsman, Major Molineux'' is a apprenticeship story of a young man and the mask of innocence being penetrated by the experience. Further more Hawthorne relates Robin's transformation to the birth of sovereign America from the arms of mother Britain. Hawthorne is able to hide the latter through his use of descriptive imagery

Five fifteen a.m., here I am trying to sleep and that noisy alarm clock has the nerve to wake me up! Doesn't it know what time it is? Well, of course it does, it's an alarm clock. I hurriedly press the snooze button and savor nine minutes peace and quiet until the alarm goes off again. Slowly, I stumble out of bed and sleepily make my way to the bathroom. Now it is time to start my morning routine.

I flick the light on and quickly close my eyes as the darkness immediately flashes into light. I slowly open them as they adjust to the light and my surroundings. I turn the water on in the bathtub, not too hot not too cold, and pull the lever up until the water sprays down like a waterfall, warm, relaxing and inviting. I lather my hair with shampoo and take in the invigorating smell of cleanness.

Returning to my bedroom I am refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to get the day started. I plug my blow dryer in and take comfort in the hot air drying my hair as I'm brushing through it, my morning massage. I start putting my make-up on, glance at the clock, and speed up my routine. It is already nearly Five fifty and I still have to wake up my daughter, Elizabeth, get both her and myself dressed, brush our teeth, get in the car and make my way to Westbank Cathedral Academy, Elizabeth's school.

We arrive at Elizabeth's school at Six forty-five. I comfort her as she starts to cry, She tells me she will miss me as I reassure her that she will have fun with her friends and I will be back later to pick her up. I get back into my car. Now it is time to head to work. Oh joy! I hit Highway 0 and immediately have to jolt to a stop. Traffic, what a great day to start off the day. I slowly make my way across the Huey P. Long Bridge, stopping and going, stopping and going. Turning onto Jefferson Highway there is less traffic.

I make my way in to the Employee parking lot at Ochsner Clinic Foundation. As I am pulling in I see the shuttle bus pulling out. Just my luck, I am sure it will take at least another fifteen minutes before another bus pulls up. I park my car and walk over to where the bus will pick me up, already there are at least twenty-five people ahead of me in the line. Finally the bus arrives and we make our way across to the hospital.

I trudge up the back stairwell that leads up to my department and open the door to the familiar smell of alcohol wipes and plastic. I tell everyone good morning and clock in. I go into the waiting area and greet any patients that may have already arrived. Now I sit down at my desk, ready to take on the day.

The Company is a Delaware corporation that was incorporated in October 187, succeeding to the business of a predecessor Texas Corporation that was originally incorporated in May 184. . At this time, in fiscal year 00 the Company¡¦s revenue was $1. billion.

Dell Computer reversed its loss of a year ago in the second quarter as the top computer maker continued to take market share in a flat market. Dell recently is making rapid inroads into the enterprise storage market, which is almost as large as the PC market while all the Dell is continuing with its drive into the mid-range server market, where its Windows/Intel offerings compete with Unix-based machines made by traditional vendors IBM, HP and Sun. Throw in Dells recent signal that it intends to aggressively pursue HP into the printer business, and hints that networking and handheld PDAs are also on the agenda. All of these are because of worries and solutions to its competitors.Custom Essays on Dell Annuel Analysis

The company¡¦s financial stat is in an extraordinarily good shape. During rapidly decreasing demand in computer industry, Dell still mange profits over its competitors. The Company¡¦s direct business model gives it the ability to operate with reduced levels of component and finished goods inventories. As the result, the Company¡¦s financial success in recent periods has been due in part to its asset management practices, including its ability to achieve rapid inventory turns while its competitors have to spend huge amount of resources to its asset management.

On the agenda for Dells July 00 annual shareholder meeting is a prevision of what Dell Computer has to offer to its shareholders. Dell alone among the largest computer-systems companies is profitably gaining market share, and was able to counter an industry trend last week by raising its guidance for second-quarter revenue and profit growth. This sharp attention to customer requirements, ability to satisfy growing preference for standards-based servers and storage products, and leading efficiency from crisp execution continue to position the company best for value creation today and beyond. While the annual directors¡¦ meeting is still held by the board, the directors are still waiting for the approval of agenda and the meeting dates.

For the first quarter, Dell earned $457 million, compared with $46 million a year earlier. During the same period, revenues increased from $8.0 billion to $8.07 billion. Dell¡¦s future prospects will increase profit in the second quarter if they continuing the cost-cutting efforts and gaining market share. Although the computer industry seen the stabilization to slight strengthening in the business, economic recovery still yet the most important future opportunities they might anticipate. Over all, by executing on Dell¡¦s successful strategy, it was the only PC maker that increased profits, while also gaining market share. Trading at approximately 40 times earnings, Dell¡¦s stock price will certainly not mount a big run, yet it should stay within a trading range until the economy recovers.

Baroque Art in the seventeenth century was dominated strongly by Italian Painting. Italy transitioning from the revival of classicism of the Renaissance into the Baroque carried a strong influential view for the period. Surrounding countries became interested in this way of art and began to travel to Italy to learn. Nicholas Poussin was one artist that did. Coming from France, the revival of Classicism was fairly new to him, and like others he became very interested in the style. One Painting that shows his interest in classical order is Discovery of Achilles on Skyros. This painting portrays a mythological scene. Achilles mother, with the thought her son is destine to die if he fought in the Trojan War, disguises him as a women and hides him on the island of Skyros, with the daughters of King Lycomedes. The Greek chieftains, Ulysses and Diomedes, with the knowledge of this, travel to the island disguised as merchants to find him. As they are there Achilles gives himself away by grabbing a sword out of their chest of jewels and drawing it as if a man would. Poussin conveys the drama of a Classical Story through expressive gesture against a serene backdrop of a controlled, carefully structured composition.

As one begins to look at the painting by Poussin, they may see a serene setting. As you begin to get into depth, one may see the underlying drama Poussin is trying to display. This underlying drama is shown by the expressive gesture of three individuals, thoughtfully placed in the center. These individuals are Achilles, his mother, and one of the disguised merchants. Achilles, who is dressed as a woman, is the main focus of the drama. He seems as though he is in a world of his own with no conscious of any one around him. He stands slightly back from the group as if he was just kneeling, but getting up. It is as if he is frozen in the position drawing the sword. His face seems surprised but really shows no emotion. He is drawing his sword in a very tense form, with his body bent as though he is using all his strength. His mother, who sits on the ground to his right, sits with her legs slightly bent. She reaches into the chest of jewels, but has her head turned focusing on the actions of Achilles. The mother who is positioned with her body facing the chest of jewels, as if that is where her attention was, sits with her head totally jerked back over one shoulder with one hand raised as if she is blocking the sword. It seems as though she got strongly distracted by the actions of her son. The merchant, who is to the left of Achilles mother, seems almost frozen in his stance. He looks as though he was just kneeling, and is pushing on the chest of jewels to stand up, as is if he is about to lunge onto Achilles.

Poussin has used expressive gesture to portray the drama of this classical story. He uses these gestures in contrast, to the way in which he paints the facial expressions. Each of the individual faces has a slight bit of surprise on them but executed in a serene way. If one was to focus only on the facial expressions, they would not feel the impact of the drama of the story in the same way in which the expressive gestures portray this feeling.

Located behind this strong interaction, is a peaceful serene interaction of King Lycomedes daughters and the second merchant. The merchant is bent down next to the chest, handing a mirror to one of the women, holding his hand up as if he telling them the price. He seems very serene and patient, as if he hasn't yet caught on to what Achilles is doing. The first daughter, who is located behind Achilles mother, reaches out taking the mirror from the man. She stands in a very elegant pose, with her left knee slightly bent and right arm held up next to her face. The second woman seems very relaxed as well, totally involved in the conversation with the man. Both women also seem as though they haven't yet caught on to Achilles actions.

Poussin uses the two contrasting situations to play off of each other to represent the classical story. He paints in way of which the figures seem frozen. In order to give depth to the story, he paints two overlapping scenes which allow the viewer to fully understand what is happening. The scene in the back seems very serene representing the moments before, leading into this moment of drama. It also acts as a serene backdrop for the drama to unfold, and with out this previous scene one may not be able to fully understand what is occurring. As well as be able to feel the drama of the story due to the style of which Poussin paints. So he places them overlapping to use the scene in the back as a norm, with the dramatic gestures overlapping in a comparative form. Without this tranquil scene in the background, the scene in the foreground would not seem as dramatic The overall composition of the painting is typical of Poussins work. There is a beautiful Arcadian landscape which is framed by a row of trees on one side and a column on the other. The main focal point is centered in the middle. One perceives the painting as you are looking directly at it with the perspective properly receding back. The centralized image is made up of two interactions in which the emotions being shown contrast each other. He carefully structures these images to play off of each other, unfolding the drama of the story. The one in the front being the more dramatic of the two, is placed in front for this reason, and the one in the back being secondary to the first. He creates a strong interaction by thoughtfully placing the figures of each scene on the same plane. The merchant, the mother, and Achilles, even though they are more spread out, are placed on the same plane in the front. These figures are allowed to be more spaced due the stronger interaction of them created by the expressive gesture. The three figures in the back appear to be on the same plane as well, grouped closer together with overlapping arms, because the feeling is not as strong. He positions these figures standing higher than the ones in the front, to draw some attention to what is going on between them, as if it is competing with the focus in the foreground.

The figures as one, are structured in a triangular shape. He chooses to place a chest of jewels in the middle to connect the different interactions together as a whole. The compositional layout, which Poussin chooses, allows one to fully understand the scene as a whole. Creating a frame of trees for the centralized image in which he forms into a triangular shape which leads the viewer's eye from one figure to the next, allowing one to see the interaction of emotions going on.

All together Poussin has portrayed the classical story in a very effect way, through expressive gesture overlapping a serene backdrop with a consciously well thought out composition. Each of these alone would not be as effective with out the other, making the painting a precise representation of the "discovery of Achilles on Skyros."

MARÍA EVA DUARTE DE PERN

Eva Perón was one of the most important and powerful women of these times. She started her life in a poverty stricken, she was an illegitimate child to the First Lady of Argentina. Eva traveled a long path to ended where she did. She was loved passionately by many people but she was also very hated by others. Many myths and legends have been created after this woman. Evita is a strongly remarkable woman because of all the power she reached and the legacy she left to the world. She is also called the Cinderella of Argentina, this woman make all her dreams come true.

She was born Eva María Duarte in 11 in Los Toldos, Argentina. She came from very, very poor beginnings. She was the daughter of Juana Ibarguren and Juan Duarte, They were not married, but Eva's father had a fifteen year long affair with Juana, even though he was married. This couple was stable thought Eva and her four siblings were legally acknowledged by their father. But when their father died in 10 they could not enter to the funeral.

Though they lived in very poor conditions; Eva, her mother and sisters had to cook to wealthy families to survive. By this way of living Eva got the first images of the difference between the rich and the poor in Argentina. And her idea of social equality carried her through the rest of her life. She attended school in a town called Junin, where her family ended settling down. She had a difficult time there because she was not a very good student, receiving average grades and remembered as being rather strange looking. Order custom research paper on Eva Perón

Accepting that she would not have a great academic future, she became interested in acting. She got a small part in a school play called "Arriba Estudiantes" and made up her mind that someday she will became a very famous actress.

When she was about fifteen years old, a tango singer named Agustin Magaldi came to her town to perform. A few days later Eva left with him to Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires. She was a very young girl living in a very big city, so life was very difficult for her; that is why she had to take on lovers who could support her. She got her first job in a magazine. She looked very beautiful and very thin. She got her first break as an actress in a part of the play "La señora de Perez" in 15. This was a small part and she became ill, so it seemed like her dream of becoming an actress will never come true.

So she used one of her male connections to get a part on a radio soap opera. She became extremely popular in the radio, so she used this popularity to continue her relationships with men in power and military. With this relationships she got small parts in movies. She knew she was not a great actress but she also knew that it helped a lot being friends of the director. That was when she met a young army colonel named Juan Peron.

Soon after they met they fell in love. Eva lived as Juan's mistress for two years, They both were really ambitious so they made the best couple. With Eva by his side Peron gained lots of power. He was very loved by the people and also had lack of tolerance with them. One day he was arrested, but Eva and her influences got him out of jail. After this, his position as the most powerful man of Argentina was assured.

Eva and Juan got married in October 18 of 145. This was a risky marriage because Eva was of low birth and it was difficult for her to get into the elite social circles. And also many of Juan friends did not like the influence that Eva had in Juan's ideas. Eva was delighted by her new life, because she had always dreamed of being rich and glamorous but this does not mean that she was using her husband to gain fame. She also loved her husband and worshiped him. Juan also loved Eva and together they made the perfect couple that could rule Argentina.

Soon after this couple got married. Juan was elected president and Eva gained a lot of power and public's attention. She used her humble beginnings to get poor people love and initiated the Eva Peron foundation that distributed the wealth to the poor. She encouraged people to call her Evita. She build hospitals and helped the elderly and the poor. She was known as the "Lady of the Hope". She also was nominated vice-president but pressures from the military against a woman in such a high position forced Eva to back down.

Even though Eva did great things for Argentina she also had her dark side. She was as ruthless dictator as her husband. She used all of her power and her husband's power to put in jail people that did not agree with them and to shut down the magazines and newspapers that published things they did not like.

Not satisfied with her power, she visited Europe to gain more. She was very good received by Spain, her first country because Spain wanted to increase its trade relations with Argentina. Then she visited other European countries where she was not very good received. Disappointed she returned to Argentina where she was worshiped.

Evita was very loved by many throughout her life. It is more said that she worshiped Juan Peron, but it is also said that Juan Peron worshiped her equally. And there are also groups of people called the "descamisados" or the shirtless ones who really adored her. The poor people loved her as their famous first lady who built homes and hospitals for the poor. And she organized the Eva Peron Foundation, the Peronista Feminist Party, and gave women the right to vote. She won devoted fans for both her and her husband while she was in power.

Sometimes the people were getting really tired of the dictatorship of Juan that they needed Eva to keep them loyal to Juan. After Eva's death people still adored her and stayed loyal but soon got tired of Juan.

In contrast of how Eva was loved by the poor ones, she was really hated by the high classes. The pope refused to see her more than 0 minutes, and England also denied her entry to the Buckingham palace. Also the elite classes of her own country despised her.

Maria Eva Duarte de Peron died on July 6, 15 of uterine cancer very young, she was only . During her lasts weeks she began to write a second book, entitled "My Message". This book attacked the enemies, especially the army was never published. And at the same time she was writing her will. Two versions of it were written. The first one became public tight after her death and the second one was given to a journalist by Juan on his deathbed in 175. Both wills begin with "I want to live forever with Peron and my people. That is my absolute and unchangeable will, and it is also my last wish". Then it continues telling the instructions that all her possessions were to be used in case of disasters affecting the poor.

On the morning of July 6, 15, she confessed to her maid that she had never been truly happy. She said that this was the reason why she left home. At eleven o'clock that morning, she went into coma. She died with her mother, bothers, sisters and other government officials surrounding her bed at 85 that night.

All day long radios had been broadcasting updates of her condition and moments after she died the radios made the announcement which put the country into shock. Uninstructed, the country immediately went into a state of mourning. All businesses closed, restaurants told their customers to leave and people began wandering the streets.

This was the story of a woman that changed the life of many people in her country and this is and example of how, even though you were born poor, the only thing that you need to achieve all you want in life and to make all your dreams come true like "Argentina's Cinderella" is to have hope and never lose it, and to make and do anything to get what you want, never loosing your principles and values.

Calvin and Hobbes are redecorating their tree house and needs to find out how much it will cost and how much they need. They wanted to carpet and pad the wreck room, and then they want to tile the entryway, and paint the walls. In order to do so they must find the area of each section to find out how much they will need and how much it will cost. The formula for area is A=HW

In order to find out how much the carpeting will cost they will have to figure out the area of the wreck room. To find out the area you need to times width times height. The height is 17feet and the width is 1 feet. Then you will have to find the area of the entryway because that section will not be carpeted and then you will have to subtract the wreck room from the entryway and then you will get the area of the wreck room. So you will have to do this, and times the area by $1, which is the price per yard

Wreck area Entryway

1 x 17 = 04ft 6 x4 ftCustom writing service can write essays on Redecorating Portfolio Project

04 -4 =180 180 x $1 =$40 cost = $40

For padding, you use the area of the wreck area by because it cost $ per yard and you have to double the amount. After that time the answer by $ (amount per yard).

Padding

180 - = 14.7 14.7 x = $60 cost = $60

For tiling you have to find the area of the entryway and the area of each tiles. Before finding the area of the entryway you need to turn feet into inches so you have to time each side by twelve and times both answer together. Then you have to divide the area of the entryway by the area of the tile. Then you time the number to tiles by $.50 because that is the cost of a tile/

Entryway

4 x 1 = 48 6 x 1 = 7 48 x 7 = 456

Tile 8 x8 = 64in

456 - 64 = 54 tiles 54 x $.50 = $18 cost = $180

In order to find out how much the painting is going to figure out the area of each wall. The first wall is 17ft wide by 10 ft then times the answer by two. The other wall is 1ft by 10ft then times the answer by two. After that add both answer together. Then you have to figure out the area of the window ft by 4ft. and times the area by 4. Then subtract the area of the walls by the area of the windows. Then divide the answer by 76 (1 gallons covers 76ft) and times the answer by .

Wall 1 x 10 = 10 x = 40 17 x = 170 = 40 40 + 40 =580

580 - 48 = 5 5 - 76 = 7 gallons 7 x = $6 cost = $6

Overall the total cost equals $55

Calvin is working as a newspaper deliver for $ per hour and he work 4hr a day for 5 days a week and wants to know how long he has to work for to save up to pay for the redecorating. Firs time 4hour time $ to see what he makes in a day and then time that by 5 to find out how much he makes a week. Then divide 55 (the total cost) by how much money he makes a day.

I attended the panel discussion on February 1 at 00 600 in Kline Hall. The topic of discussion was Defining One's Own Identity with Dr. Phil Wander as a Moderator. I felt this to be a very important discussion as a teacher, because each and every day students as well as teachers are trying to define who they are, who they want to be and how to come about it. It was a very good session to go to and I really learned a lot about the many walks of life people take.

There was an array of speakers in this session. Students that spoke in this session were Aundre Bell (DSU) and he had a very brief speech about how he felt identity was forever changing by meeting new people that impact your mind and therefore your life. The next speaker was Gayla Greer (DSU), she defined her identity as a mother, wife, sister, daughter, cousin and friend. She than went on to speak about how her childhood was so defined about what she was (Mexican) rather than who she was. In her high school she described there was a hallway for whites, African Americans and Mexican and you wouldn't dare trespass into the other hallways where you didn't belong. Barb Schaan (DSU) followed up by starting her speech with a song that talked about feeling like she going through World War III the way her parents are fighting. She described her child hood as exactly that never peace, always a fight whether it was about a simple thing about T.V. or a huge deal like money problems it always felt like WW III. Since her childhood she has really struggled to come to terms with her identity and who she really wants to be. The last student speaker was Mary Brunelle (United Tribes Technical College) and she had a very motivational speech which main message was that you can do anything you set your mind to. She than talked about going through her life and doing some thing like coaching wrestling that everyone said "YOU CAN"T DO" you're a girl, you've never wrestle, but little did they know that she would coach her two sons to State Titles and at the national level. The message that was left in my mind after she got done speaking was I could do anything I wanted with dedication, hard work and perseverance.

There was also two faculty speakers, Brenda Hall-Dvorak (United Tribes Technical College) she spoke about being a native American and growing up with s many stereotypes and trying to overcome them without losing her own identity (culture), The last speaker was Dr. Charles Okigbo (NDSU) originally from Africa. He talked about going through life and defining his own identity. As he spoke I noticed his STRONG accent that he spoke about later that he has been in America for 5 years now and he will Never loss his culture or heritage, and that was one example, his accent.

Through the -hour session we also got into discussion groups with peers and discussed our own identity. The peers in my group on average where a lot older than me and it really surprised me when they talked about still trying to define there identity and that is why the came back to college and how hard it was to go back to college and sit with a group of 0 years old they said the first couple weeks they were so self-conscious! These discussions were really valuable and open my eyes to the many walks of life people have and make me feel fortunate for having such a positive childhood and all the experience my parents have exposed me to.Order Custom Essay on Diversity

Overall, it was a great session and I would attend another diversity conference if it did come back to Dickinson State.
