Lennie, George and I have had many situations in common during our lives. We were all victims of many circumstances that were beyond our control. We have all been in a circumstance where there has been an extreme misunderstanding, filling us with fear. We have both been in an uncomfortable situation due to another persons suffering. Finally, the restriction of not being able to speak to certain people.

In the book Of Mice and Men, there was a situation when Lennie was feeling a girl's dress. Lennie liked to pet soft things because he enjoyed it. While they were in the town of Weed, Lennie was in a situation that he should not of been in. He was petting the dress of a girl because he liked the way it looked and thought it would feel soft. When he went to grab the dress, she began to become afraid and yelled, "rape!!" Lennie and George ran in fear because of this misunderstanding. I had a misunderstanding in 7th grade when I had left a Boy Scout pocketknife in the pocket of my pants after a meeting. I came into school the next day not realizing I was carrying this pocketknife. To carry a pocketknife was against school policies. I was filled with fear when I was brought into the office. The school principal said it was a lethal weapon, while I felt it was a tool.

In the book, the death of Candy's dog made the other people in the cabin extremely uncomfortable. Conversations stopped between all that were there because no one knew what the right words were to say to comfort Candy. The dog had been a constant companion to him since he was a pup. I came to know death at a young age when my cousin Emily drowned at a very young age. She was an only child to my Aunt and Uncle and the conversations were very difficult between us for many months after their loss.

During the story, restrictions were placed on Lennie not to speak to Curlie's wife. She was a lonely lady that wanted companionship and conversation with any person that would be willing to spend time with her. However, her husband was a jealous man and would physically punish any person that was alone with her. I too have been restricted to talk to ladies who seem lonely or in need of companionship. As my existing girlfriend feels threatened by their existence. Thus causing a difficult situation. Write your Of Mice and Men research paper
