Ø Not all case managers were present. Case managers should be present at all group activities.

HOMELESS SHELTER PLANNING- December 15th, 001

Ø Aline will not be able to take care of planning this activity. Suzie volunteered to take over. We came up with four options

1. Visit Ronald McDonald House Home for terminally ill children.

. Visit and old age home, where mentees can do arts and crafts with the residents.

. Visit a homeless shelter in or around Glendale.

4. Visit churches or hospitals.

Ø If we are unable to find a place to visit, we planed to substitute this activity with visiting The Getty Museum.

CASE MANAGER PROCEDURES

Ø All case managers should keep in touch with Christina on a regular basis. If for any reason a case manager or his/her mentor or mentee can not attend a group activity, they should inform Christina.

Ø All case managers should let Christina know of any problems that may arise with a mentor or mentee.

Ø All mentors should return their case managers phone calls. All case managers should return Christina's phone calls.

Ø Case managers should be present at all group activities.

LION KING PERFORMANCE December 14th, 001

Ø Alina is in charge of organizing this event.

Ø 0 tickets are available at $7/ticket. The tickets will be sold on a first come first serve basis.

Ø Mentors will pay for their own ticket, and the GN program will subsidize the mentees ticket.

MENTOR TRAINING December 6th, 001, 700pm

Ø All Mentors should attend this training.

Ø It is the goal of this program to have fifty mentors by the end of this year.

Ø Mentors do not seem to have the desired level of commitment to the program. They should be responsible for keeping in touch with their case managers.

Ø The program needs more male mentors. There are still four male mentees who do not have mentors.

Ø Task Force members are welcome to take part in the training.

Ø All case managers should attend this training. It is their duty to make sure that all mentors are present at the training.

Ø December 11th, 001 New Mentor Training.

PARENT MEETING November 7TH, 001

Ø All parents should be present at the meeting.

Ø The program will be introduced to the parents. We should inform them about their responsibilities, role and support to the program

Ø Parents should be aware of the level of commitment of their children to the program.

Ø Case managers should call the parents to invite them to the meeting. Ara will call them as well.

Ø Since case managers will be meeting the parent for the first time at this meeting, it is mandatory that all case managers attend the meeting.

Ø At the meeting our mission and the calendar of events will be introduced.

Ø There will be a parent meeting on the last Thursday of each month. After each meeting case managers should sit with the parents and talk about the level of commitment of the mentees. This will make their experience very personal.

FUND RAISING ACTIVITIES

Ø Adrin is heading this committee. They have met twice already, and have come up with ways to raise money.

Ø Having gatherings at people's homes or other events.

Ø To use members' birthdays (Vasken,) as fund raisers. Those who attend the party, instead of bringing a gift, will donate $0 to the fund. It will be potluck, and will take place on December nd, 001 at 60pm.

Ø New Years Eve after mid night party.

Ø Sending a mailer to the general AGBU public asking for donation.

Ø Create ways to work hand in hand with other Armenian Organizations. If we collect subscription to the AIM magazine for one year, they will give us $0 per subscription. AIM is also doing a book launch. Each book is $50. Anyone, who buys a book through GN, the program gets $10.

Ø On November 8th, 001, Vasken and Anahid will be attending the LA Metro Chapter meeting to promote the program. Chapters can not directly donate to our fund. Donations have to go through SCDC.

Ø The committee is looking for a grant writer.

Ø The committee needs more members.

MENTOR/TASK FORCE RETREAT

Ø Date February 1, & , 00.

Ø Vrej is in charge of finding the location.

MEETING WITH THE YP STEERING COMMITTEE

Ø We will be meeting with the YP steering committee on December th, 001-500pm. at Elena's (1st choice) or Raffi's Place (nd Choice).

Ø We will be inviting the YP committee to the December nd birthday fund raising party.

PR COMMITTEE

Ø Alina is heading this committee. They need more members.

Ø The committee needs a video camera to start putting together an advertisement. They are also working on a booklet to send to big corporations. They will also target TV shows and other organizations.

THEATRE WORKSHOP

Ø First meeting November th, 001 700pm

Ø We are looking for individuals who can help us.

Ø The workshop will be an educational process, such as, researching a historical figure and making a theatrical presentation of the figure and the period he lived in.

Ø We are hoping that this will be a fun experience for the mentees

ANNOUNCEMENTS & MISCELLANEOUS

Ø Christmas cards should be sent to mentors, donators, SCDC…. We should send them around December 15th.
